Have you ever considered how important your morning routine is?
What are the first things you do in the morning? How do they resemble what you want to happen in that day?
You may have heard this before, yet I want to emphasise it because it is so important and powerful.
When you wake you open your eyes, your mind starts to stir and you gain consciousness from your sleep. When you get out of bed and take your first steps of that new day, you may stub your toe on something nearby. If your reaction is to swear and shout and feel aggrieved that its happened to you, you are setting your intentions for that day.
If however, the same thing happens – you stub your toe as soon as you get out of bed, and you acknowledge the pain and discomfort, but let it go and continue to smile as you walk off to the bathroom to start getting ready for your day, your day will play out so differently.
Such little things like considering how you respond to what happens to you in each moment, you are creating your day as you want it.
Because its guaranteed that the person that gets aggravated they have stubbed their toe will then go on to experience more irritation throughout their day – their hair will go wrong, they will miss their train, be late for work and feel a low riding irritation throughout the day.
Whereas the person who experiences the moment and lets it go, they are able to accept life as it flows and not get too caught up in their expectations of the day. They will more than likely experience a better day, where whatever happens they deal with it with ease.
The blame game
There is no point blaming yourself if you happen to be the person who would swear and shout when you toe gets stubbed.
You are in a fortunate position that you have a conscious mind that is capable of exploring new ways of living on a daily basis.
So feel free to acknowledge this about yourself and if you want life to be different, change it.
So the next time you stub your toe, choose to react differently.
Try responding rather than reacting.
A response is considered with a momentary pause. And can create much easier and happier days.
What to incorporate in your morning
By understanding that your morning routine is important in influencing the rest of your day, what else do you spend time in this precious time doing?
Do you make time for yourself?
A good question to ask yourself each morning is – How do I want to feel today?
Its also important to consider, how much time do you set aside for yourself?
You have commitments and responsibilities – but do you allow yourself any time? You will no doubt think “I don’t have time!” but time is made by you.
Taking time in the morning to spend it doing something you enjoy can ensure your day starts with a smile on your face.
It may be 5 minutes doing a crossword, listening to your favourite song, meditating, singing, dancing around the kitchen, a workout. Whatever it is that will make you feel content and looked after, by yourself.
This is vitally important for your morning routine.
